THE OIL CHANGE

FUNCTION
The oil pump propels oil to all the moving parts. Oil not only lubricates the moving parts, but it also cools the underside of some engine parts. In addition, it seals microscopic gaps found in any metal, boosting the engine's efficiency. Further, Oil removes debris that can damage bearings or other parts, carrying it away to the engine oil filter or the transmission filter.
After time and use, engine oil:
breaks down – mostly due of heat
is contaminanted (byproducts of combustion, metal particles and from air intake)
loses acid neutralization
While engine oil contains detergents, it must be maintained to retain its viscosity.
